paper CO_ColombianAppliedLinguisticsJournaltxt25 - : teaching practice acquires unlimited dimensions . On the one hand, there is the teacher providing the necessary input and help for students to comprehend, interpret and act upon the knowledge acquired in class. On the other hand, there is the researcher who questions his/her performance, his/her environment, the changes s/he may trigger in order to create or favour conditions that would, in the end, provide better quality in the teaching arena.

paper CO_ColombianAppliedLinguisticsJournaltxt200 - : Having considered Grugeon and Gardner's (2000) statement regarding the use of stories in the teaching practice "to tell in school traditional tales: myths, legends, fables, folk and fairy tales which reflect communal ways of making sense of experience […] they offer alternative worlds which embody imaginative, emotional and spiritual truths about the universe" (p . 3), the researchers made an attempt to select stories which would both motivate students' interest and would provoke critical thinking and reflection on aspects related to diversity. paper CO_ColombianAppliedLinguisticsJournaltxt114 - : This full time practicum, the culmination of their teaching preparation, includes a minimum of 12 hours of face-to face instruction per week. It is undertaken under the supervision of a professor from the FL program and a teacher from the selected institution where the student teacher carries out the practicum. The role of the supervisors is to guide the student teachers throughout the process of planning and implementing the practicum; providing feedback and the overall evaluation. Evaluation of the teaching practice includes four aspects: 1 ) the way student teachers integrate theory and practice into teaching methods, strategies and skills in a real classroom; 2) a smallscale research project based on their teaching experience; 3) their involvement in extracurricular activities, such as: religious and cultural events, flag-raising ceremonies, sporting activities and parades, among others; and 4) the design and implementation of a cultural or academic activity that benefits the school

The whole dynamic proposed by CDT led us to understand that values like respect, empathy, and honesty should be a must for teachers who want to grow professionally. In few words,'''the incidents became catalysts for revelatory and innovative discoveries. Finally, this study proved that reflection persuaded by a peer in a safe environment promotes learning from mistakes. It also fosters permanent and meaningful changes in the teaching practice since we all have the necessary knowledge and experience to cope with any incident before it becomes unmanageable . The only thing we all need is a good partner who triggers that knowledge and experience in a persuasive way.

paper CO_Íkalatxt166 - : The traditional roles of teachers consist of being a source of knowledge and controller of every aspect of the teaching–learning process (Harmer, 2001, p. 57 and ff.; Martínez Lirola, 2007, p. 34). The teacher needs to be familiar with the different genres or text types and with the main structural and grammatical elements in each text type, i.e., teachers' knowledge of the generic structure in each genre and the selection of the right text types in teaching practice is crucial in the learning process, as Hasan points out:
